This explains what Damptech does with the personal details you share with us, and the rights you have over that information.
Last updated: 2026.
Who we are
Damptech (Damptech SW Ltd) is a damp proofing, timber and woodworm specialist based in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. For anything about your data, contact us at damien@damptech.uk or 07468 464827.
What we collect
- When you use the enquiry form: your name, phone number, email address (if you give one), property postcode and whatever you write in the message box.
- When you call or email us: your contact details and whatever you tell us about the property and the problem.
- When you book work: the property address, notes and photographs from the survey, and the details needed to raise a quote, invoice and guarantee.
The website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. It does not build a profile of you or follow you around other sites.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and arrange a survey. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
- To carry out and stand behind work you book, including the written guarantee. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping proper job records.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
We do not use your details for marketing and we do not sell or rent them to anyone.
Who else sees it
- The service that delivers the website enquiry form to us by email. It passes the message on and does not use it for anything else.
- Our email, phone and accountancy providers, as part of running the business normally.
- Where a job needs another trade (for example a carpenter or roofer), only the details needed to quote and do that work, and only with your agreement.
- HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Records for completed jobs are kept for the length of the guarantee plus the period we are required to hold financial records (currently six years after the tax year the work relates to).
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we no longer need it. Email damien@damptech.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
